(Seattle Sundays) Deception Falls

Today our tourist activity was Deception Falls.
Spenser had never been, and I have not been since Roger and I went when we were dating. When we arrived the park area was closed. We are still experiencing some flooding here - so I was concerned about rather or not it was safe. (I do have a fear of moving water, after a close encounter a few years back). But we made it...
Was a nice drive, and the water stayed mostly in its banks, though we did get wet.

We've made an offer on a home in VA

Today we made an offer on a home in VA. It's a bit sooner than we expected, but we think this is "The one". We've asked for 90 days for closing - which ironically, puts us at the June 22nd day that I've been saying is when we are leaving Seattle.
We'll see if they accept our offer...

(Seattle Sundays) Snoqualmie Falls

When Spenser and I talked about the things we wanted to see before we leave - Snoqualmie falls was first on the list. We used to hike to the bottom of the falls every summer, though it's been a few years now.
There are now signs warning you not to hike to the bottom of the falls - but we needed to, for Ol' times sake. Spenser's been making that hike since he was 3, I think we can handle it! The Snoqualmie is currently raging, but not quite flood stage - so we climbed over the fence, and walked out to the base of the falls. If you hike to the bottom - your gonna get wet!

"SEATTLE SUNDAY'S"

Spenser and I have made a list of everything that we want to do and see before we leave Seattle. Many of these are things that we have done, but need to see again before we leave.

So - I've had Spenser take off Sunday's from here forward, and each Sunday we are going to be "tourists". It's amazing the things your forget to see while you live here.

Why is my car stuck in NJ?

Why is my car stuck in NJ of all places?
After making it across the country quite quickly - it's now been in NJ for 2 days.
Linden NJ? Mr Villar, my Yankee loving brother-in-law can you call someone to go check on my baby for me?

A carpet ride

I've ordered 1800 sqft of carpet. It's due to be installed right after the first truck load goes.
I got a SCREAMING deal! (Has something to do with my charm) :-)
Which is good, cause I'll get to look at it for about 8 weeks.
It looks like Roger will be home for that whole week, so maybe he will be able to help with the safe.
The packing is going slow. I'm having a hard time choosing what I can live without for 3-4 months (or more). I'm spending WAY to much time trying to find the last thing to fit perfectly into the last little spot in the box.

I don't know how to pack - I'm a scientist, not a mover!

The little Italian that could...

For those of you that don't know..... Roger has a 1977 Fiat Spider. His father is the orig owner, and it now only has 60K miles on it.

2 years ago (while Roger was in Iraq) I took it to work one nice summer morning, and it decided to start leaking nasty green snot like stuff into the cab.

Since that time - it has sat in the garage. Not driven or even started.

I had a guy come over today to work on it (Thanks Mat). We charged the battery, put some starter fluid in the carburetor, and it started right up!

A 30 year old car that sat for two years, and it started right up - pretty impressive.

So he fixed the leak, and it's now ready for the long trip to DC. We aren't sure if we are towing it - or putting it on a truck, but I got it to work - check it off my list!

Can there really be this much to do?

Disclaimer: Roger did receive a partial relo package - but since I was laid off we decided I should do most of the work, and we could use the money elsewhere.

Today I have finally firmed up the actual "household goods" moving. The first truck is to be here on April 5th, we will have it for 5 days and we are going to try and get everything in it that we can live without. This means that I have to pack everything in the next 4 weeks. Seems easy enough until you factor in the yard, and all the arrangements of household repairs that need to be done I will be hiring a few of Spenser's friends to do the lifting. The biggest issue is the two safes, the door on the one weighs 600 lbs. I have yet to figure that one out exactly. The following week carpet is to be installed throughout the whole house. Two different days with enough that I can move every thing around (including one of those safes) After a week of cleaning - I hope to put the house on the market - with an actual move out day of June 22nd Now that I have that part scheduled, I now have to hire a gardener, someone to clean the roof, someone to repair a broken window, replace a few boards on the deck, fix the Fiat - and wash the house. HA! Have I forgotten anything? It's ambitious - but I can thank ICOS for the extra time to get it done.
