102 in Seattle

Keep cool Seattle.

Outside of the Pacific Northwest everyone sees that Seattle is 100+ degrees, and they think "SO WHAT".

People need to understand that Seattle is used to high 70's this time of year. No-one has air conditioning. Those of us living in hot weather spend most of that time in air conditioning. We aren't really dealing with the heat.

In 1994 Seattle reached 100 degrees ... and I remember it. The house doesn't cool down, and who can sleep in 90 degree weather?

Give them a little sympathy ... think about what your life would be like without A/C in the summer?

Roger is in Kuwait / on his way to Iraq

Roger left to head back to Iraq last night. Never good days for us. We are growing tired of this situation, but feel we have few choices.

We had a good three weeks, I tried to find him some time to shop and watch movies (I think his two favorite past-times), but I'm afraid I might have worked him too hard. His "list" was long, and we had a few unexpected jobs that appeared.

... and so begins the next countdown. :-(

My first trip home.

NOTE: Please no-one get offended. We were only in Seattle a couple of days, we had house issues to tend to, and I had foot surgery. I was unable to really see anyone while I was there. I wanted to see you all....

It's been two years, and it was time to face the music.

While I was not sure that I was ready to go back to visit Seattle.... I could no longer stay away. I had foot surgery while there ... and we had to tend to the Snohomish house.

My niece brought my nephews out to see us. I had never seen the baby "Camden", it took him until the last few hours before he warmed up to me. He was following Roger around on day 1... but I had bond with him over Mountain Dew.

"Mason" likes that Aunt Bob knows how to man-handle boys....

Seattle was beautiful we arrived to 75 degree sunny weather. However I didn't pack accordingly for the 62 degree damp weather. While packing Roger said "don't you want a jacket?" I said... "It's July", he said "Its Seattle".

It's hard to say Good bye to family again, I hope they come see me soon.

Roger returned home on July 3rd for a few weeks of R&R.

While home he will turn 50, and I thought that for 50 he deserved a really good present.

So... this is what he got. I got a great deal, and risked life and limb to get it from NJ by myself (it wasn't pretty).... though I did "deliver" it to him with "0" miles on it.

Think the trailer is big enough. It was my first time. :-)

Somehow I kept it secret for 2 months, and was able to surprise him with it when he arrived.

2 years.

We've now been in the DC/VA area for 2 years. Initially I said that we were on the 2-4 year plan here. Does that mean that my time here is done? Probably not.....

Roger has been in Iraq for a year and 1/2 of those 2 years.

We still haven't sold the Snohomish house, and we've lost money (like everyone else) on two houses.

Life is not as we had planned, but we are trying to make it work. We work hard, we make sacrifices, and "just get through".

I'm less bitter at the East coast than I was a year ago, I don't know if that means I am assimilating, or if I've given up trying to get people to be green and nice.
